Since our paper on dual and offset AGN in Magneticum got accepted, this month’s plot is of course also taken from this paper. The plot shows how the Eddington ratio (accretion rate/ Eddington accretion rate) of BH pairs at z=2.0 evolves between z=2.3 and z=2.0. For dual AGN pairs (large and small red stars), it typically increases for both BHs. For offset AGN it also increases (large blue and yellow diamonds), but not for their inactive counterpart (small blue and yellow diamonds). This clearly indicates that offset AGN suppress the accretion of the second BH, while dual AGN don’t!
