This figure is taken from my paper on dual and offset AGN in a cosmological simulation at z=2. In a very large simulation with both a high resolution and a large volume we can study BH pairs with a distance of only a few kpc for the first time. The plot shows that for dual AGN the AGN from the less massive progenitor galaxy always has the higher Eddington ratio like it is seen in observations (Comerford+15). For offset AGN it is different: here the AGN always has a higher Eddington ratio than its inactive counterpart.
